Call for nominations for the 2004 Nat Nakasa Award

SANEF, the Print Media SA's Media Freedom Committee and, the Nieman Society of Southern Africa have called for nominees for the 2004 Nat Nakasa Award for Media Integrity.

This annual award recognises any media practitioner, journalist, editor, manager, or owner – who has:

-Shown integrity and reported fearlessly;

-Displayed a commitment to serving the people of South Africa;

-Tenaciously striven to maintain a publication or other medium despite insurmountable obstacles;

-Resisted any censorship;

-Shown courage in making information available to the SA public;

Or, any combination of the above.

If you think anybody fits this definition, please submit your nomination before May 25, accompanied by a motivation, and samples of the candidate's work to: cathyp@printmedia.org.za

The Award is open to all journalists irrespective of whether they serve a community/national newspaper, magazine or electronic medium. The winner will receive R15 000,00 in prize money and a certificate. The award ceremony will take place in July.
