Byrne spent nine years at Jupiter Drawing Room Johannesburg, firstly as head of planning, followed by seven years as deputy MD.

“One of Tim's key objectives and tasks is to speed up transformation in the agency,” said Khumalo, “And he most definitely has the energy and credentials to build on the successes of Ann and her team, and take the agency to the next level.”

An energetic and enthusiastic Byrne commented, “My objectives really are three-fold: to continue the stellar work of Ann and her team, to fast-track and focus on transformation and lastly to really start seeding and growing Grey's new mantra of creating ideas that accelerate brand potential”.

Khumalo, Nurock, Grey's executive creative director Mike Barnwell and Carter were actively involved in the recruitment of Byrne.

Explained Khumalo: “We sought to engage a professional in marketing and advertising with an excellent strategic and business management track record who would take the baton from his predecessor, grow our business and accelerate that transformation. We have found that person in Tim Byrne and are excited.”

"Clients are looking to agencies for strategic leadership, big bold creative ideas and spirited partnership - Tim Byrne delivers on all three. We are very proud of the talent and accomplishments of our South Africa agency and believe Tim has the vision and commitment to take it to even greater success,” concluded Carter.
