Well, this is our last newsletter for 2011, but we will be back with our first newsletter for 2012 on 10 January. In the meantime we will continue to update the site, but at a lower rate since a great many of you, being far cleverer than us, will be relaxing on holiday or at home with friends and family, and work will be the last thing on your mind.

The Fresh Fruit Portal reports that South Africa is gearing up to export citrus fruit to Thailand next year. Thai official inspectors are expected to arrive in March, at the start of the season, and will be observing South Africa's harvesting, packing, transporting, port handling and shipping of citrus. 
SAinfo reports that, speaking at the COP17 climate summit in Durban, experts warned of a new wave of deforestation in Africa, while emphasising the importance of forests in slowing climate change. 
Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) says it expects South Africa's economy to grow by 3% in 2012.
