The
Loeries is basically all over now, bar all the analysis of the winners (and losers), congratulations, back-patting, travelling exhibition, printed annual, jealous sniping and cries of scam ads (if we don't get any of that on Bizcommunity.com, I'll fall off my chair in astonishment). So, for all the winners,
go here. For the results of the new ranking system,
go here. For opinion, read Herman Manson's column on the
waning influence of advertising awards (plus take our
poll) and read Loeries judge Jarred Cinman's views and insights on the
Digital Loeries winners.
But how were the awards ceremonies themselves? I wasn't able to go this year, but I was still glued to Twitter on my cellphone trying to keep up with the tweets. Judging by those
tweets, there was lots of good partying and drinking (and jokes that there were no drugs left in Johannesburg for H20) but there's a
strong sentiment that, both nights, the shows were over-long and mostly boring (although everyone loved Helen Zille). Still, the Loeries is an opportunity for members of the creative industry to connect with each other, and that networking is always a valuable thing.
Congrats to all the winners!
