WOW! great article ... just yesterday i was presenting a full sensory" retail re-branding concept. I truly believe in this concept but it sometimes is so hard to get past the visual perspective ... and when you start talking about a vanilla pod for the aroma, the right sound playlist to set the mood ... refreshing water with lemons and mint to spark the imagination, texturised and beautifully bound visitors book for customers/shoppers to leave behind thoughts and memories and to read past peoples thoughts and memories .... the texture and final details on couches and scatter cushions .... the feel of the floor under your foot - sensory retailing is happening but it is also a challenge to get past the visual especially when so many retailers in SA have not even managed to get that side right.
