The 157th L'Ormarins Queen's Plate Racing Festival took place on Saturday, 6 and 7 January at Kenilworth Racecourse. The two day event saw over 5000 attendees, including international celebrities, racing fans and socialites from around the world.

The ninth annual Feather Awards was held at The Theatre on the Track in Kyalami on 9 November 2017. The awards celebrate diversity and aims at gaining allies to help with the advocacy and education around issues of gender and sexual diversities. The Feather Awards is a social movement that advocates for equalised acceptance of the LGBTI community in society.
