Business tourism industry converges on Sandton

South Africa's first fully-fledged Business Tourism Conference kicked off at the Sandton Convention Centre on February 26, followed by the sector's flagship Incentive, Conference and Business Travel Expo Meetings Africa which runs from 27 - 28 February.

The conference, organised in partnership with Gauteng Tourism Authority, South African Tourism, the Department of Trade and Industry and Johannesburg Tourism Company Thebe Exhibitions, presents a platform to unleash the potential in Business Tourism.

Meetings Africa is the marketing platform for Africa's business tourism industry and the only exhibition on the continent that offers marketing solutions for the entire industry - venues for meetings of any size, incentive travel packages, new and interesting ideas for events and year-end functions and exotic meeting destinations - with new ideas and support services and products.

The events sees conference organisers, meeting planners, corporate travel agents, associations and government departments converge every year to consider their business tourism options, negotiate the best deals available and network with key industry players.

This is the second time in a row that Meetings Africa is being held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, the business tourism capital of Southern Africa.

The Sandton Convention Centre is a major player in Business Tourism market, hosting 50% of all exhibitions in the Gauteng province, with an occupancy rate of around 68% for its exhibition halls.
