Gullan&Gullan joins ICOM

According to the International Communications Agency Network (ICOM), Africa is an important region to the network's clients who are looking to expand in fast-growing markets. In addition, advertising and promotional activity is expected to increase in South Africa this year as the country hosts the FIFA World Cup in June. It has therefore appointed Gullan&Gullan Advertising as its exclusive South African member.
Gullan&Gullan joins ICOM

ICOM, a global network of independent advertising and marketing communications agencies, was founded in 1950 as the National Federation of Advertising Agencies and renamed the International Federation of Advertising Agencies (IFAA) in 1976. Rebranding itself as ICOM in 1998, the network now has over 70 member agencies in more than 50 countries, with billings of US $2.4 billion and gross income exceeding US $390 million.

Michael Gullan, MD of Gullan&Gullan Advertising, said, “Our agency has been growing consistently since we opened four-and-a-half years ago. We are eager to interact with our global peers to better understand their insights as agency owners from a diverse range of cultures, and we want to learn from, contribute to and cooperate with agencies from around the world.”

With offices in Joburg and Cape Town, Gullan&Gullan provides integrated marketing communications services, including digital and PR, to its growing client portfolio that includes Women's Health, Touchline Media, Radisson Blu Hotels, South African Breweries, Vespa scooters and a host of other local accounts.

Independence is the characteristic of every ICOM agency. While being part of the global network, each ICOM agency remains part of the local market culture, connected socially, politically and economically. “This is just one of the reasons why Gullan&Gullan was the perfect candidate to represent the network,” said Gary Burandt, ICOM executive director.
