NCRF elects a new Board

The National Community Radio Forum (NCRF) has elected a completely new board of directors.

Representatives who attended the bi-Annual General Meeting '05 were from the NCRF Member stations, associate members, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), Sentech, Open Society Foundation of South Africa, Ungana-Afrika, the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA), the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), private companies interested in the development of NCRF and the community radio sector in general.

The new Secretariat comprises Chairperson Ms Geshana Nadesan, station manager of Highway Radio in Pinetown in KwaZulu-Natal; Secretary Mr David Seale, assistant station manager and presenter at Radio KC, Paarl, Western Cape; Treasurer Ms Rebone Molefe, station manager of Radio TNG, Pretoria, a campus-based community radio station in Gauteng.

Additional board members are:
Eastern Cape - Mr Luyanda Jimlongo, station manager Takalani Community Radio, Aliwal North, who is hub stations management co-ordinator;
Free State - Mr Sechake Mothibedi, station manager Naledi Community Radio in Senekal and provincial hub coordinator;
Mpumalanga - Mr Reginald Kgoedi, station manager Radio Bushbuckridge;
Mpumalanga - Mr Ben Tebele, chairperson of Greater Middleburg Community Radio Board;
KwaZulu-Natal - Mr Vusi Shangase, station manager Durban Youth Radio;
North West - Ms Dudu Makapan, deputy secretary of the board, Moretele Community Radio;
Limpopo - Mr Sebitjo Malatji, chairperson of Mohodi Community radio.

Mr Garth Damerell was elected as representative for Northern Cape to ensure representation of all nine provinces.
