New board members for National Community Radio Forum

The National Community Radio Forum (NCRF) is a national, membership-based association of community radio stations and support service organisations. Community sound broadcasters form the third tier of broadcasting industry and are independent non-profit community based organisations, owned and run by diverse local communities who actively participate in the development of programming activities for sustainable non-discriminatory local development.

The NCRF was established in 1993 to lobby for the diversification of the airwaves in South Africa and to promote the development and growth of the community radio sector. The NCRF is governed by a charter and the Constitution that are implemented by the board of directors elected at a bi-annual general meeting. The latest AGM took place in Upington in the Northern Cape in December 2009 and the following board members were elected:

Sonnyboy Masingi (chair); Joe Dire (deputy chair); Patrick Kikine (secretary); Rachel Watson (deputy secretary); James Seerane (treasurer). Additional members: Thandeka Msani; Thabang Pusoyabone; Victoria Cawood; Solly Rashilo; Kgomotso Maila.
