Maartens is no stranger to the mike, for the past year, she has been the weekly breakfast presenter at the campus radio station - Puk FM.

Asked why she entered the competition she says, “I love radio and once you are in it, you never want to leave. I am in still in shock, but this is amazing news. I'm absolutely thrilled and definitely plan on celebrating my win!”

According to Nick Efstathiou, marketing manager of OFM, “On Air 2009 was a wonderful way to spend face time with our loyal listeners across central South Africa and show them how radio works. I want to congratulate Yolanda on winning this competition. She already has a fan base that voted her as the winner and will present her own radio show on OFM very soon.”
