The station will focus on Xhosa culture and tradition.

Cofounders Muzi Dlamini and Gova Maguda, both former Unitra community radio station presenters, said it was their love for radio that had inspired the idea in 2010.

The station is expected to broadcast in Xhosa and the music will be 100% local content.

Dlamini said Ingwane FM could be found on 104.5MHz in Mthatha and on 90.6Mhz in Port St Johns from the middle of next month.
