iWeek conference attracts international ISP meeting

The 9th Annual iWeek Conference, hosted by the Internet Service Providers' Association of South Africa (ISPA) and UniForum SA, will take place 15-17 September 2010 at Kloofzicht Lodge in Muldersdrift, Gauteng. This year's event will bring together representatives of ISP associations from six continents, as the International Internet Industry Alliance (IIIA), formed in 2007 as a forum for ISP organisations from around the world, to share information and collaborate on issues of mutual interest.

Cyber crime high on agenda

In addition to the IIIA's participation, Internet industry representatives from Australia, the US, the European Union, Argentina, India and South Africa will partake in the conference. These key players will debate and discuss Internet industry developments across the globe. Particular issues of international importance that will be focused on include cyber crime, copyright, net neutrality, domain names, content liability, privacy and data retention. There will also be a special guest speaker from the FBI's Cyber Division, who will present a keynote address on global cyber crime and the role ISPs can play in combating it.

All the proceedings at the conference, excluding the IIIA meeting, are open to anyone involved in the Internet industry. Corporate IT and network executives, senior managers, strategists and product vendors can all add to their industry knowledge. At the same time, emerging ISPs and start-up Internet Cafés will find the wealth of contacts and exposure especially valuable for fast tracking their growth.

iWeek 2010 has already lined up a strong roster of sponsors with MTN Business as the platinum sponsor, Neotel a gold sponsor and Vox Telecom as the silver sponsor. Attendance at the conference is free and registrations can be done online at www.iweek.org.za.
