Community radio magazine supports industry's outreach to ad industry

A new magazine titled Motivisi has been launched to encourage the community radio sector and contra some of the negative perceptions around its ability to deliver specific audiences within all LSMs in large numbers and its effectiveness and ability to offer a ROI on an entire brand campaign.

Its editor Banele Rewo is also group marketing executive at Motswako Media Group, where he has been for three years. He is currently is studying integrated marketing communications at AAA School of Advertising and already completed copywriting at same institution. He has previously contributed to various online and print publications including JHBlive and Onesmallseed.com.

The free, 16-page fortnightly magazine is dedicated to informing the industry about community radio on the following topics:

  • Reporting on the latest advertising and communication campaigns through community radio
  • Media and advertising agency opinions and perspectives
  • Latest reporting on news affecting community and clients
  • Photographic community radio station profiles
  • Interviews with station managers and presenters
  • Coverage of relevant regulatory sector structures, government, private and parastatal
  • Latest and future technology to be utilised by community radio
  • Industry partnerships to improve the sector

Currently on its fifth issue, it has reportedly successfully delivered relevant and exclusive material to both stations and advertisers. The magazine has carried interviews, articles and opinions from people such as MTN corporate affairs' acting group executive Xolisa Vapi; Mediashops's director Donald Liphoko; National Community Radio Forums chairman Sonnyboy Masingi; and radio sales people such as Stan Katz and Chris Moerdyk.
