A fashionable success

Following the success of the inaugural COSMOJEANS show in 2003, the denim fashion event was back in 2004, taking Cape Town to new fashion heights last week – if the hemlines were anything to judge by! Showcasing a variety of leading denim brands, the show took place in conjunction with Cosmopolitan's annual denim supplement, out now in the May issue of the magazine.

A dress code of "colourful and sexy" is a tough one for cool-Capetonians-in-black to pull off, nevertheless many made an effort to fulfil the brief at the seamless, stylish and fun show, held at the Lightbox last week.

If you didn't know: minis, brights, fishnet and off the shoulder styles are as big now as they were in the summer of '83. The Biz team clapped, bopped, whooped and waved in tandem as choreographer Jan Malan and a team of gorgeous models did their thing. All credit and thanks to Cosmo for a 'seamless' effort (we know it wasn't) and professional production.

"The COSMOJEANS show is becoming one of the prominent events on the South African fashion calendar," says Vanessa Raphaely, editor of Cosmopolitan, an Associated Magazines publication. "The COSMOJEANS supplement and subsequent fashion show is widely regarded as the premier showcase of the latest fashion in denim jeans."

COSMOJEANS is co-sponsored by top clothing brand names including: Legit, Sissy Boy, Guess and Levi's; together with major fashion retailers: Edgars, Jet, Truworths, Foschini, Mr Price and Woolworths. The COSMOJEANS supplement consists of 80 pages of denim fashion sponsored by jeans manufacturers and photographed by talented photographers Kai Haase, Anton Robert, Mark Cameron, Jacques Weyers, Jillian Lochner and Richard Keppel.
