Media24's latest offerings for car lovers, in the form of the revamped glossy up-market motoring magazine topCar and Afrikaans sister title topMotor, follow hot on the wheels of its recently launched title, Max Power, which caters for modified car enthusiasts.

"Media24 has taken the publication and given it a complete overhaul, with its own distinctive look and feel that is earmarked to become the next Media24 success story," says publisher John Relihan.

Media24's rationale behind the re-launch of topCar is that South Africans have a passion for cars and car culture and a licensing agreement with Emap, publishers of UK title Car, gives Media24 access to some of the automotive content that can be incorporated into a distinctly South African product reflecting the automotive lifestyle of Africa.

According to Relihan, "there is simply no top class motoring publication for Afrikaans readers that offers them the total package in their own language - excellent editorial, outstanding photography and superb layout. Also, our success with Weg! has clearly paved the way for Media24 to introduce top quality magazines packaged for an Afrikaans-speaking market."

"The success of this formula speaks for itself with Media24's Huisgenoot and You magazines. But don't buy topMotor just because it's Afrikaans, buy it because it's the best motoring read in the country," adds Relihan.

Driving the editorial team of topCar and topMotor will be Pierre Steyn, a seasoned journalist and former news editor at Die Burger. He will be assisted by Jaco Kirsten, former motoring editor for Die Burger and features editor for Weg!.
