Over a four-month period, Murray tasted more than 1000 whiskies to reach his final selection. In his book, he salutes distillers for "maintaining and furthering the finest traditions of whisky making and taking the craft to the very highest levels."

According to the brand's spokesperson in Africa, Brian Glass, the award is an exceptional honour not only for the whisky but also for master distiller Ian MacMillan who has over 35 years' experience of whisky distilling and blending. It is available from leading liquor outlets and retails for about R725.
