Local fashion designer Leigh Shubert will be showcasing her latest Spring/Summer collection at the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Joburg Fashion Week. We got in touch with her to find out more.
What collection style will you be showing at the upcoming Joburg Fashion Week?
The collection is a combination of feminine flounces, Japanese elements and interesting elastic details. Bold solid colours, stripes, and a new way to do lace mixed with an ethereal tropical print.
What type of women do you design for?
Strong, independent women of all ages and shapes. Women who like to stand out, in a classic, but unique way.
What’s your ultimate fashion item?
A shrunken vintage leather biker jacket.
What advice would you give to any aspiring female fashion designers?
I think being a good fashion designer is much easier than being a good business owner – if you want to make money from your craft, then work in the industry first and listen to the planners!
