SA Tourism launches new UGC campaign

South African Tourism is inviting YouTube users to upload their craziest impressions of South Africa to create an ad about the country in a new, interactive campaign. The aim is both to get the world talking about South Africa and to promote the many, many exciting and invigorating travel experiences the destination offers.

“We want people to show a sense of adventure, to be bold and to be brave. We want them to push their imagination to the limit to create that winning video,” says William Price, e-business global head at SA Tourism.

Entrants are dared to be as creative and crazy as possible in recording an ad that reflects the spirit of SA where just about anything (within the confines of the South African law, of course) goes. The creator of the most viewed and highest rated video will win an all expenses paid dream trip for two to SA.

This is the first of numerous online campaigns that South African Tourism is engaging in. Each campaign is designed to help the destination interact with travelers and prove to people that South Africa offers almost endless variety and depth of awesome leisure travel experiences.

Adds Price, “This campaign is about engaging with YouTube users and challenging them to be gutsy and have fun when interacting with South Africa. We want them to see that South Africa has so much to offer as an adventure destination of choice where they can live on the wild side and share these experiences with their friends. We are appealing to users' intrepid natures where they want to push their body and minds to the limit to create ads that reflect their interpretation of the destination.”

The competition runs from 15 November 2008 - 15 February 2009. Go to www.southafrica.net/channel for further information and to www.youtube.com/user/southafricantourism for instructions to enter and upload footage, pick up some tips to create a great video and enter the competition.
