    Shorten's grows with acquisitions

Johannesburg-based Shorten Publications has established 3S Media Holdings to extend its focus on the needs of industries, trade, developers, government and entrepreneurs, increasing the titles in its fold with several new business-to-business acquisitions.

3S Media Holdings owns subsidiary printing and electronic divisions, now known as 3S Print Media and 3S Media Studio respectively.

3S Print Media intends to perpetuate the same dedication to publishing excellence. Sports Retailer, Home Builder & Contractor and Risk Management are new magazines in the 3S stable and there are also plans to launch a community-based newspaper.

The following directory titles have been acquired by 3S Special Editions, a subsidiary of 3S Media Holdings: Meetings SA; South Africa Business Guidebook; Direct Access: The Conference Handbook; Human Capital Management; and Photographers SA.

Managing director, Elizabeth Shorten, says the new team intends to maintain and improve the standards of excellence of the titles and increase their reach in the marketplace.

The current printing division includes several trade and technical titles, such as IMIESA, the official magazine of the Institution of Municipal Engineering, focusing on municipal service delivery linked to public-private partnerships; RéSource which promotes integrated waste and resource management; Emergency Services SA; Transport World Africa; and SA Irrigation.

Building on the platform provided by traditional print media, 3S Media Studio provides businesses and organisations with innovative website design and development, as well as versatile multimedia presentations.
