Photoshop Pxl_shft series launched

Pxl_shft is an independent, high-end Photoshop conference that will take place in Johannesburg on 8 May 2010, Cape Town on 14 May and Durban on 21 May and will also take place across Africa, the Middle East and Mediterranean. A call for papers is open and the deadline for submissions is Friday 16 April.

“Any creative who is doing compelling Photoshop work and has a penchant for public speaking is encouraged to participate as a presenter,” says Mohammed Jogie, principal at my main mojo, the joint organiser with Kadoro Events and Communications.

The conference is designed to showcase some of the best talent through lecture-style how-to's, portfolio showings and addressing everyday creative challenges. With the impending release of CS5, attendees will get to see new features, as well as favourites like making fire and water, channel wizardry, tricky selections, retouching and more. There will also be an opportunity for portfolio showings towards the end of the day as well. Anybody interested in either speaking or presenting their work can submit their work online.

Adobe launches innovative projects

It aims to add value to the creative community and its ecosystem with the launch of three innovative projects: www.gocreate.co.za, www.adobesource.co.za and www.amazingacrobat.co.za.

These are all innovative ways in which the company aims to empower its customers," says Leonard Rabotapi, Adobe marketing and PR manager for Africa.

Pxl_shft costs R750 per seat for professionals. Student tickets are available at the discounted price of R350. Pxl_shft has partnered with sponsor companies to ensure attendance by delegates who are unable to afford tickets.
