The Design Indaba Conference, now in its 9th year in Cape Town, was recently judged the best conference in the world and this year's speaker line-up offers some of the hottest design and creative minds on the globe.
In addition to the main Conference from 22-24 February 2006, there'll be a one-day specialist Jewellery Indaba, Fashion Indaba and Architectural Indaba running alongside the main Indaba programme on 22, 23 and 24 February respectively, with presentations by top international and local specialists and designers. And exhibits will form part of the Design Indaba Expo that showcases the best of local design, open from 24 - 26 February 2006. All events take place at the Cape Town International Conference Centre.
The Specialist Indabas aim to stimulate debate around the respective disciplines by exposing local designers to the boldest and most imaginative creators in this field. Designers will be challenged to an approach of constant experimentation, with a blurring of the distinctions between art and product design.
The Specialists Indabas will pose challenges to our own designers to raise their game and dig deep to produce world-class designs with a distinctive South African signature.
