Oppikoppi dust settles

This month we travelled to the dusty Northam plains of Limpopo and made it back in one piece to report on our virgin experience of the music fest beast that is Oppikoppi. Our very own main man and Bizcommunity content director Rod Baker spends a night at le charming hotel Le Franschhoek.

Cinema buff Daniel Derckesen reviews the very non taxing Step Up Revolution, and theatre fundi Eugene Yiga enjoys some belly laughs at the Kalk Bay Theatre for literary adaption Mafeking Road, while new time contributor Angie White witnesses the announcement of Jonathan Boynton-Lee as the winner of My Top Billing Dream at the fancy finale at 15 On Orange.

Photographer Mary Fay Everard gets up close and personal with the international headliners of Oppikoppi who also graced the Grand West stage for One Night in Cape Town last Thursday. In other music news, the lineup for the Rocking the Daisies teaser event Sowing the Seeds is announced, and Matthew Mole is crowned winner of Converse's Get Out Of The Garage competition.

Happy Tuesday!

Once upon a hill
[Ruth Cooper] Oppikoppi virgins we are no longer; that intimidating hulking dusty beast that is Oppi had his way with us and, like most first times, sometimes things were sweet and sometimes not so.
