With over 14 years of experience in the South African music business (I started early) I soon realized that there was a gap in the market for a label that grooms, develops and train their artists to fully be aware of their brand and capitalize on it. A lot (if not all) of the labels are still trying to sell music (in whatever format - CD, Cassette, MP3 and etc) whereas we believe that the artist's music is a promo tool for their brand and once we build a brand that connects with fans we will then be able to unlock the artists true financial value.
Our non traditional 360?approach to the music business looks beyond just selling albums (physical, digital or otherwise) but rather unlock complete value from the artist's brand and talent.
Our first signing, Deep Level only on their first album has already won a SAMA (South African Music Award) and Nigeria's Soundcity Video Music Award. The have also been nominated for a Channel O Music Video Award and a Metro FM Music Award.
Our second signing, Silvabaq who are still in the recording process for their debut album "Almost Human" have already had one of their songs featured on the popular reality series 'Khourtney and Khloe Take On Miami'. Additionally MTV Iggy hand picked Silvabaq as one of the acts the musical world has to watch out for in 2011. Silvabaq has recently been appointed as brand ambassadors for the international jean wear company - Pepe Jeans
Our latest signing is Africa's heir to the Hip Hop throne; L-Tido. With only one self released, marketed and distributed mixtape L-Tido has risen to the upper echelons of African Hip Hop. He recently won the Best Newcomer Award at the Channel O Music Video Awards and has currently one of the biggest songs on both South African radio and television music channels like MTV Base and Channel O.
