My name is Nokwanda Penny Mathebula. I completed my undergraduate degree in corporate and marketing communication at the University of Johannesburg in 2013.
MY degree as stated on my certificate is in corporate communication. I studied strategic communication which is the combination of marketing communication and corporate communication.
I had three majors which were communication, strategic communication and industrial psychology. These subjects exposed me to the drafting of contracts for human resources purposes and the writing of job post advertisements and various other human resource functions, as Industrial psychology is also a major for HR students. Our primary marks came from developing marketing campaigns, and drafting internal communication strategies. I was shortlisted for an AMASA ignite award in 2014 for one of the assignments I did in my third year.
My skills pool also includes, events organising. I have been organising and advertising events since grade 8 where I was part of the Acek Academy interact club which was in charge of organising all school fun events. In my matric year, as head girl, I headed the task team elected to organise the matric farewell, my duties also included organising the end of year prize giving function.
.
I'm a hardworking 20-year-old who values dedication and discipline. I'm an industrious student; this is evident in view of my academic history. I was promoted from grade 8 to grade 10 at Acek Academy where I began and completed my high school career. I represented Mpumalanga in the South African Youth Water Prize competition in 2008. Myself and two colleagues where afforded this opportunity after winning the regional leg of the competition in Mpumalanga. We represented the province nationally where we came fourth in the competition.
Apart from my more academic achievements I was elected as class prefect in grade 8. I was the only school prefect in grade 10 as school prefects where chosen among the grade 11 and matric students. I was the first democratically elected head girl and I served in this position from end of my grade 11 year to the end of my matric year.
I don't believe in waiting for life to happen but in working hard at everything I do in order to create the opportunities I desire in life. I believe I will learn a lot from this opportunity and I will work hard and fully open myself to criticism as it will be for the benefit of my growth as a marketing practitioner.
I have not done anything in terms of professional work in the industry. but I hope my first job as a pupil reflects my industrious personality and gives you an idea as to what kind of employee I will be. Furthermore, what I lack in experience I make up for in work ethic.
