Natalie Singer
Natalie is passionate about the recruitment & staffing industry and APSO and believes that professionalism and high standards of ethics and best practice are paramount. She also speaks regularly at conferences and delivers workshops on the subject of recruitment, employment and employee attraction and retention.
Natalie holds a BA: Communications & English degree from
UNISA as well as a variety of recruitment-related
qualifications.
She began her career as a journalist working first for Independent Newspapers before moving into magazines with Caxtons (Pty) Ltd. After spending two years living and working in London she returned to South Africa where she first entered the recruitment industry.
In 2002 Natalie joined a small boutique agency in Durban as a recruitment consultant but within two years left to start her own agency, Thembeka Consulting. In 2003 she joined APSO's KZN committee as the PR Officer and in 2004 was elected as KZN Chairperson, serving also on the APSO Executive Committee. Under her leadership the APSO membership in the province increased by more than 30% in a single year.
In April 2007 Natalie was offered a permanent position and relocated to JHB to work full-time for APSO. She was subsequently promoted to Chief Operating Officer and in this role manages the day-to-day operations of the organisation. Natalie is very involved in lobbying and advocacy and represents the industry at several stakeholder forums including the Confederation of Associations in the Private Employment Sector (CAPES) and Services SETA.
Natalie oversees PR/marketing for APSO, including being the editor of APSOgram, the only recruitment-specific magazine in SA, and appears regularly in the press, writing articles for newspapers, magazines and other online publications.
