Derick Poremba-Brumer

I had a severe motorbike accident in my matric-year. I noticed while studying that 'nothing' gets written about disabilities - so people don't know anything about their recoverability (my word) if they were to acquire a disability.

Excellent ad. It reminds me of the cause that I'm fighting for i.e. head injuries/ disabilities/ road accidents.
'Nothing' is said about them either. Even though an estimated 5% of the population on earth acquire a head injury each year; disabilities affect whole families; we all know about road accidents. THERE ARE NONE SO BLIND THAN THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO SEE!

Derick Poremba-Brumer commented on Stop using varsity degrees as barricades to advertising, media
I was in a coma for 7-months in my matric year (1986). I've since achieved 6 University qualifications in the Psychological/ Humanistic field. Perhaps inspirational speehes from me is what is needed to revitalise the ad-industry?

I've got another skill that companies should look at i.e. the prevalence of disabilities. I learned at varsity that the population group that's most affected by Traumatic Brain Injuries (i.e. a common result of a mva) are young males between the ages 16 - 24.

I learned this fact when I was employed (part-time) at the Centre for Augmentative and Alternative Communication - that's situated in the main grounds of the University of Pretoria.

People With Disabilities are classified as "Black" in the employment-sphere because they are part of a group who were "previously disadvantaged".

I wonder how many marketers are aware of this fact?

You call it "PUPOSE", I (and Dr^56 Frankl) call it "MEANING". but it's essentialy the same thing. Have a look at my home-page to see that I'm speaking with real gravity here.

Hi,if you were to need a speaker who speaks on a topic that's very relevant for the youth leadership summit - that doesn't get much 'airtime' anywhere i.e. anything about TBI's - contact me.

You can be anything you want to be ... if you can attach some personal MEANING to it! (it's easier said than done).
