ESG & Sustainability Noticeboards South Africa

2018 World Clean Up Day

Let's Do It! Africa started in Estonia and has swept the globe, including Africa where 60 countries are united in efforts to clean up their countries in community cleanups - from Nigeria down to South Africa, we are all united against waste. Mark the date on your calendar - 15 September 2018!

Let's Do It! Africa started in tiny snowy Estonia and has swept the globe, including Africa where close on 60 countries are very actively working for waste, as leaders, mentors and as a community that is sick and tired of garbage, illegal dumping and is pushing hard towards a zero waste society. Impossible in Africa??? Not with the fantastic Let's Do It! Africa team, mainly young people many of whom are connected to JCI.

Our wish is to connect with media houses, magazines, radio, tv, advertising agencies, whoever would like to come on board as a media sponsor and fight trash with us. Save the date - 15 September, is World Clean Up Day. Contact gro.dlrowtiodstel@frotseor.teragram at the Africa Ambassador office to become part of the movement that is ROCKING AFRICA and she'll put you in touch with our wonderful local young men and women in each country who are worthy role models for their peers and deserve media attention. Each country has a Let's Do It! FB page, i.e. Let's Do It! Mozambique, etc. and there is a Let's Do It! Africa FB page as well.

What do we need? We need people to join in with their communities in-country on 15 September 2018, we need people to use the mapping app to map trash https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eo9bqxngrw (Kadri makes it really easy to start mapping, listen to her easy to follow short video clip and start mapping!!) so that the data can be presented to officials and solutions to illegal dumping and trash can be implemented, and we definitely need some corporate sponsorship towards training our new batch of Africa leaders, to support the Africa Ambassador office, and for gloves, bags and transport on World Clean Up Day.
