Job description
Chronicle is an award-winning start-up digital production agency with journalistic storytelling at its core.
Its founding/managing director is looking for a commercial manager to help run this unique and (so far) successful media enterprise, now in its second year of operations, in partnership with the Daily Maverick.
Chronicle produces journalistic-minded branded or native content for private and public entities (predominantly academic and research institutions, social justice organisations and NGOs, foundations and some corporates). It also produces independent journalism in the form of investigations, long-form features, documentaries, animations, digital and physical exhibitions or galleries and rich media microsites. Its focus is on, but not exclusive to, the audio-visual. It seeks to raise the editorial storytelling bar in South Africa and Africa and set standards for quality and impact of audio-visual content in a content-saturated digital world.
The successful candidate will work closely with the founder to tell the Chronicle story and drive all commercial aspects of the business, focusing mainly on growth through new client acquisition, client relationship development and business strategy. The candidate will also liaise with the directors of Daily Maverick to ensure business interests are aligned and opportunities across both platforms are harnessed.
