'Black diamonds' won't stay in Kruger's lodges

According to a Times Live report, young and wealthy 'black diamonds' with disposable income at the fingertips do not like staying in the Kruger Park camps or lodges. SANParks says that while a million people visit the park each year, just 26% of them are black.
Times Live reports that this is one of the main reasons for plans to build a luxury upmarket hotel in the park to cater for these "safari tourists". The new hotel will be built near the Malelane Gate, will have 119 rooms overlooking the Crocodile River and will have a five-star rating. Conservationists say that such a hotel will destroy the natural feel of the park and commercialise it. They want it to be built outside the park.
