The finalists of the Imbongi Awards, which showcase and recognise excellence in the Cape Town and Western Cape film industry, have been announced. The 3rd Annual Imbongi Awards will be held on Saturday, 6 March, 2010, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Cape Town and the Western Cape have, over the past 10 years, developed into a globally competitive film industry destination. The film industry has been able to attract a significant amount of productions to Cape Town, which, in turn, contributed significantly to the growth of the film industry.

It is now clearly recognised as a significant film industry destination that is able to compete with the best in the world.

Acknowledgment to the film industry

The Imbongi Award is an acknowledgment to the film industry as a whole and the individuals who have all contributed to this success.

These awards will be recognising, rewarding and honouring individuals and companies for outstanding achievement in pre-production, production and post-production work within the Cape film industry.

Overwhelming response

The response and call to the industry to be part of this prestigious event has been overwhelming.

The judging process also went very well and we were able to draw from some of the best people in the industry to judge specific categories. In order to ensure transparency in the judging process we publicised the various categories, those nominated and also the judges assigned to those categories.
