Serena Hotels has won the Best Hospitality, Travel and Tourism in Africa Award at the African Business Awards 2012 held recently in London. The awards celebrate excellence and best practices in African business and recognise organisations that have driven Africa's rapidly transforming economy.
The African Business Awards are organised by the African Business Magazine (ABM) and the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC).
Serena Hotels was recognised for making outstanding contribution to the development of the continent, the economic aspirations of its citizens, the transformation of Africa's image in international markets by branding the six destinations in which it operates as attractive tourism destinations and for providing the highest standards of service and product whilst operating in a sensitive manner towards monitoring the interests of the local population, including their traditions, culture and future development.
Mahmud Janmohamed, MD of Serena Hotels said that recognition for excellence is indeed an honour in itself and the sustainable integrated ethical approach to development of the Serena brand for over four decades with a current portfolio of 24 properties in six African Countries is highly gratifying.
Seeking investment opportunities
Janmohamed added: "Receiving awards such as the Best Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Company in Africa inspires the company as we believe that profitability and development are two notions that can serve each other. The company continues to work on supporting the growing tourism industry in Eastern Africa by seeking investment opportunities and validates its belief that, with the changing nature of guest expectations, it is the quality of service and product that will continue to determine the destination choices that clients make."
The Serena Hotels portfolio of hotels, luxury camps, safari lodges and resorts is located in Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Uganda, Rwanda and Mozambique, and 11 properties in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan.
