On-line retailer gears up for bumper festive season

The upcoming festive season will see a record number of South Africans doing their Christmas shopping online. This is according to Gary Hadfield, CEO of online retailer, kalahari.net.

“Online retail in South Africa is experiencing continuous growth and the biggest retail sites have grown phenomenally when it comes to improving efficiency. Combine this with the penetration of broadband, and online retail is set for major growth in the next few years,” says Hadfield.

The retailer, winner of three Jump Shopping e-commerce awards, has recently introduced improvements to the site in preparation for the festive season, including new shops and increased ranges. A new flower shop adds to the extensive product range that the site already offers.

A revamped wine shop further compliments the product offering with an even wider range of good value and quality wines that can be delivered to your doorstep – some wines are even available on 24-hour delivery. The relaunched jewellery and watch shop offers top brands of watches and sunglasses and the extended premium jewellery range will cater for all tastes.

The introduction of the new shops and continuous improvement of existing ones is in line with the retailer's strategy to also become a top gifting destination and its 24-hour delivery service adds to the convenience and according to Hadfield, has been very successful in addressing its customers' need for instant gratification.

Hadfield says that the retailer's comprehensive offerings, range of goods and payment methods, for example, makes it a convenient alternative for Christmas shopping.

“As media reports have mentioned, the congested roads, crowded shopping centres and endless queues that is a given over the festive period can truly be avoided by using the Internet as shopping destination,” he concluded.
