Gut-busting gags at Nando's Mass Hysteria
With Mpho "Popps" Modikoane, Ndumiso Lindi and Tumi Morake on the lineup, you will have a riot of a time. These were my favourites of the show, but Alan Committee, Chester Missing, Joey Rasdien and Nik Rabinowitz will have you in stiches too.
The show will warm you up with a ZA News parody called Thuli Madonsela's Wrecking Ball - it works brilliantly at setting the tone for the rest of the evening, as comedian by comedian takes a swipe at the current state of political affairs in South Africa.
Thuli Madonsela - Wrecking Ball by ZANEWS
The new cabinet includes:
John Vlismas - Public Attacker
Tumi Morake - Minister of Hormones, Carbohydrates and Calmettes
Nik Rabinowitz - Minister of Mental Health, Sunday Lunch and Personal Hygiene
Alan Committiee - Minister of Headucation and Literasy
Chester Missing - Minister of Non-Human Settlements
Joey Rasdien - Minister of Haircare, Skincare and Apnoea
Ndumiso Lindi - Minister of Culture
Mpho "Popps" Modikoane - Minister of Single Fathers and Roads
Other than taking the mickey out of our Cabinet - which brought on dual feelings of exasperation and catharsis, expect a helluva lot of racial stereotype jokes - enough to tickle your funny bone without being offensive, but perhaps a tad overdone. Also, whether you think it's too soon or not, expect a raft of Oscar trial jokes - it's topical right now - just go with it.
Modikoane took top act of the night for me; with his fresh, relaxed charm he delivered a hilarious set of gut-busting gags. Modikoane is going places in the comedy scene, having already shared the stage with the likes of Trevor Noah, Marc Lottering, David Kau and Chris Forrest.
All the comics are at the top of their game; suffice to say you'll get your money's worth at the Nando's Mass Hysteria show.
The show continues this weekend in Cape Town at the Artscape, 12-13 September, followed by the finale in Port Elizabeth at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre (ICC) on Tuesday, 16 August.
Tickets are available at Computicket.
