
Rickety Bridge has launched its first icon wine, The Bridge 2008, named after the original 'rickety bridge' from which the estate took its name. A Cabernet Sauvignon, it was judged to be one of the Top 100 wines in the inaugural Top 100 SA Wines competition. With the vineyard being inaccessible by vehicle, all of the eight barrels were hand-made from start to finish.

Hazendal wine estate has introduced its De Haas wines, in white, rosé and red in a screw cap range, a first for the estate. Haas, meaning rabbit or hare, takes its name from Christoffel Hazenwinkel, the original owner of the estate in 1699. 'Hazen' is the plural for 'haas', which reportedly roamed Hazendal in those early days.

Fleur du Cap has released its first white wine under screw cap with the new 2008 vintage of its Unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc. All 2008 vintages of the brand's white unfiltered wines will be bottled under screw cap instead of cork to safeguard the quality and flavours by eliminating any risk of cork taint.
