I am writing this col from one of the best 'offices' today on the planet, courtesy of Mother Nature: a balcony overlooking the sea on Margate beach which is drenched in sunshine, plastic chairs and all. It will not be easy to return this evening to the remains of winter. Loerie awards MD Andrew Human may want to bury his head in the sand a while longer too, rather than face dealing with a response to the leaking of the annual Loerie awards results last week before the main event - by his own website. It's a pity, with all the media on the ground, they fell into the classic PR mistake of 'ignore and hope it will go away', rather than calling a press conference and dealing with it then and there. Instead, industry creatives, fearing a cover up, sought the media out. Oh well, what would the Loeries be without some skinner and skandaal? It was a stunning weekend in the end in total with brilliant event organisation and worthy winners. And that's what we were all here for in the end: to celebrate creative excellence. The Biz team, decked out in our trademark red, wrote, videoed and took pix 24/7 over the weekend, posting live and constantly from the minute we landed - go to our special Loerie section on the
www.bizcommunity.com home page. Vlogging partner Zoopy.com and photographer Hush Naidoo posted to Bizcommunity's additional dedicated Loerie
video and
image channels on Zoopy.com and
Loeries Gallery on Bizcommunity. There was also extensive coverage in our blog:
http://blog.bizcommunity.com/index.php/category/loeries/. We'll be posting a lot more over the week as well, so keep popping in for more. Thank you to the entire 15-strong Bizcommunity.com team and partners for all the hard work. You rock!
Flown the coop.
