It's awards season in Hollywood as proclaimed by the addictive E! Entertainment News and with the Loeries 2007 launch last week, our own awards season is about to get underway! When the Loeries burlesque spectacular moved to Margate in October 2005, it was always the intention to aim for the milder and warm winter season - ergo, no rain and grey skies. So diarise 27 - 30 July for Loeries this year - apparently it's warmer on the South Coast in winter than during the summer rainy season. Let's hope so: the freezing temperatures of last year's September 2006 Loeries put a bit of a dampener on things.
Loeries are already hotting up with the new entry deadlines of 15 March. This is also the same day as the industry's newest awards, the all-Africa experiential marketing awards, Brandex, which take place after the newly-launched African Experiential Summit on 15 March in Johannesburg. Deadlines for
Brand Ex have been extended to 16 February. Loeries has set new benchmarks each year since the revamp in awards professionalism and a tight expert awards event. This is being seen in the industry in most other major awards and events, which are tighter and more consultative than in the past, it seems, on deliverables and promoting the best interests of the broader media, marketing and advertising industry. It's going to be a fun year!
Enjoy!
