Synergy's fire starter

And the international act announcements keep on pouring in. Next act to head SA's way is British punk rock/dance act The Prodigy who will be headlining Synergy Live in Cape Town and Joburg this November. In other music news Johann Smith is appreciative of Ard Matthew's brave solo album, First Offerings, I report back on act three of the #5GumExperience, and a very good looking line-up for Up the Creek 2013 is announced.

Petrol-head Henri Geyser takes a spin in the Chevrolet's new attractive and tough Trailblazer, and is impressed with Volvo's exciting V40.

In travel news, Rod Baker soaks up some sun in Mauritius at the newly refurbished and reopened Ambre, while Brian Berckman pays a visit to South Africa's Best Luxury Country Hotel, The Robertson Small Hotel, and Ilse van den Berg goes on a world wind tour of Cape Town with City Sightseeing Sidecar Adventures.

Film buff Daniel Derksen reviews inspiring films, The Odd Life Of Timothy Green, and Cloud Atlas, while Eugene Yiga reports on the announcement of the 2012 theme for MCQP.

Happy Tuesday and if rocking out with Linkin Park in Cape Town tomorrow check the public transport plan to avoid major traffic nightmares.

Ard Matthews' solo album: Do you seriously care?
[Johann M. Smith] Pop music works because of a dull human truth: your heartbreak and joy isn't more special than anybody else's - and, thus, it has to be bland enough to become universal (Exhibit A: Coldplay). The general feelings that we all experience is the global language on which pop solely rests. Success depends on how well it can define the same old familiar tears. Read more >>
