The transition from traditional channels to digital channels will have a major impact on broadcasting in SA, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers' (PwC) South African entertainment and media outlook 2012-16 (The Outlook). 
According to Screen Africa, South African free-to-air (FTA) commercial broadcaster e.tv has filed a legal motion against Minister of Communications Dina Pule on the grounds that her decision to award the set-top box (STB) control system for digital terrestrial television (DTT) to parastatal signal distributor Sentech is "unlawful, procedurally unfair, irrational and unreasonable". 
The shnit International shortfilmfestival 2012 is set to captivate audiences this year with a Grande Bouffe of short films garnished with bright magenta. Now in its tenth anniversary edition, the festival has indeed grown from strength to strength.
