[2013 trends] It's all Hype(r)
[Terry Levin] Colloquially, the word hyper is often used to convey over-the-top or excessive behaviour - as in "those blue Smarties made my child/dog/girlfriend really hyper". Additionally, over the last three or four decades, it has also come to mean linked. For the purposes of trend prediction, I will go out on a limb and predict that, from 2013, hyper will replace mega, uber and even inter as an urban prefix of choice. 30 Jan 2013 11:30

[Design Indaba 2012] Cities that speak
[Terry Levin] One of the dominant themes to have emerged from Design Indaba 2012, held as usual during the last week of February, at Cape Town's CTICC, might be said to be one of a new kind of assisted or enhanced intelligence - with almost every presenter demonstrating the new narrative and emotive potentials of digital interfaces to connect. 5 Mar 2012 14:04

[2012 trends] My hem, your hem, mayhem!
[Terry Levin] Looking for trends to follow in 2012? Why not just invent one and then get as many people as possible to subscribe to it via as many media and devious means as you can dream up to get it trending? Voila, instant trend! Call it Like-ness... or the year of rampant individualism. 24 Jan 2012 15:15

[2011 trends] The shift hits the fan
[Terry Levin] You don't have to be clairvoyant to figure that this is the time of year for scenario planning - but this, the year that kicked off so neatly with its demonstration of pure binary code 1111, that has had mathematicians all atwitter about its status not only as the first prime year since 2003, but also the year that is the sum of no less than 11 consecutive prime numbers, will be more than different. So what does 'primeness' mean now? 24 Jan 2011 12:55
