Clint has over 21 years experience in advertising and marketing. 18 of those have been digital.
He helped Jane Raphaely introduce desktop technologies to the creative departments for both Cosmopolitan and Femina Magazines, before embarking on a career in advertising at, you guessed it, Hunt Lascaris TBWA (Cape)!
So technically, Clint has returned to the Hunt Lascaris family.
It was there under the creative leadership of Stephen Burke that he met John Hunt and fell in love with ideas and how they change lives, brands and businesses. Inspired by William Gibson, Bruce Sterling and the whole Mondo 2000 thing at the time, he developed a deep curiosity and an insatiable appetite for technology, art and counter-culture. Increasingly, technology formed part of his creative solutions for clients; like the three-dimensional print ad for the ANC that got the cape talking in 1994 (he still has the press clippings and memo from John), or the interactive game for Good Hope FM shipped on three stiffy discs I tell you. This piece earned him a copy writer (Paige Nick). He had arrived.
As a result, he joined tinderbox interactive (widely regarded as one of the first pure-play digital agencies in the country) as Creative Director during early 1995. He remained at tinderbox for seven exhilarating years, collecting the first digital Loerie Grand Prix along the way, amongst numerous others, including The One Show award.
Clint has both founded and led creative teams (SHiFT, JACK!, AquaOnline, SpacePatrolCar) in Johannesburg and Cape Town prior to taking office as Chief Creative Officer at Quirk during 2010. Here he led the three creative studios (Cape Town, Johannesburg, London) and helped reposition the digital marketing agency to one that is driven by creativity.
Clint is a regular industry speaker, and addressed the 1999 audience at the International Design Indaba, Interactive Marketing Seminars and the 24.com Roadshows. He has also been invited to participate on award panels (both local and international) including the Loeries as jury member for many, many years and more recently as Chairman (2009, 2010, local Chair in 2011 and Co-Chair for 2012).
As Executive Creative Director (Digital), he plans to provide the creative leadership towards delivering work that is inherently empowered through today's digital technologies. Expect Clint to stimulate, then grind the creative thinking against digital cogs. He will also look to provide a transition framework towards building digital competencies throughout the business. This will entail fluency from the work itself, to how the work works. He will work with both the \tequila and Hunt's creative teams on ideas that demonstrate this integration. Expect fierce collaboration, integration, flexibility and changes in attitudes and culture as we embrace the age of agile creativity.
