Top 10 nominees for Innovation Prize for Africa 2018 announced

The top 10 nominees in the African Innovation Foundation's (AIF) Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) 2018 have been announced. Under the theme 'African innovation: Investing in inclusive innovation ecosystems', this year saw more than 3,000 applications from 52 African countries. Submissions this year demonstrate significant breakthroughs in ICT, agri-business, public health and the environment/energy sectors to improve the lives and economic prospects of Africans.

Nearly half of all deaths and about a third of disabilities in low and middle-income countries could be avoided if people had access to emergency care. In Africa the main causes of emergencies are road accidents, obstetric complications, severe illnesses and non-communicable diseases.
