The Cape Craft and Design Institute, the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements (DoHS), and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) unveiled the second phase of the Better Living Challenge at the Nyanga Arts Development Centre in Nyanga on 30 June 2017.
Project 90 by 2030 recently donated and installed five solar power charging units at the Abaphumeleli Home of Safety in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. The solar power charging units were built by the high school learners who are involved in Project 90 by 2030's ‘Playing With Solar' project; the youngsters are taught the importance of being environmentally conscious and looking after the planet in addition to being trained on how to build the solar units....
The Wavescape Festival in Cape Town, an ocean-minded event, included film screenings, art exhibitions, ocean talks, filmmaking workshops and a charity auction. A record R328,000 was raised and will be making its way to four important ocean causes.
The United Nations awarded six global environmental leaders with the Champions of the Earth award at a global biological diversity conference which was held in Cancún, Mexico. The award acknowledges figures from the public and private sectors as well as those from civil society who have had a significant and positive impact on the environment.
