Grim tales from Gupta TV - 24 Nov 2014

By Rod Baker

It seems life might be a bit rough for those who work at television station ANN7... the Sunday Times' Gabi Mbele reports on allegations of no gum chewing, no sickbay, no cars - and if you fail to clock in on time, your salary will be docked... It's grim times and grievances at ANN7, it seems.

Meanwhile, Eskom continues to blight our best efforts to avoid tripping over the cat after nightfall, but far more important, to make an honest living... Why? Well, SA's retailers are facing a bleak festive season, thanks to the threat posed by Eskom blackouts. So it could be a case of an Xmas that will be blighted for so many retailers.

What makes it even worse - as if blackouts aren't bad enough - is that it seems that despite a schedule of outages, there's a reasonable chance that there will be blackouts at times not listed on the schedule - so it's difficult to plan around them.
