From the world to Africa... Design IndabaOne of the highlights of the South African annual calendar is, what else... Design Indaba and as always, we were there, bringing you the latest from the world of design. Design is a fundamental aspect of any product - whether it be produced in Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa or anywhere else, and it's not a case of one size fits all... Still in Egypt (and France), Egyptian billionaire Sawiris has promised to keep Euronews neutral... Egyptian telecoms and media magnate Naguib Sawiris, who is set to take a majority stake in Euronews, pledged on Friday not to interfere in coverage by the pan-European TV news channel. And still on the media front, it pays to get mad - which is what happened when South African members of the media found their cellphone signals blocked during Jacob Zuma's State of The Nation Address to Parliament. Whereas they might have got a very different reaction in some other countries in Africa, here in South Africa, writes Anton Harber, the reaction was not to laugh, not to imprison (or worse) but rather for the politicians to admit to at least some of their misjudgements.
