Nthato Selebi and also project director of the Thuthuka Bursary Fund from SAICA challenged the learners to aim high in life. "Forward planning and thinking was the key to success. It is important for learners to assimilate information and be the light that you were chosen to be," said Selebi.

    Reward is fulfilling

The learners received the relevant CA career information from participants at different levels of the chartered accounting profession. The members of the panel included people at various levels on the strata of being a CA. Recently qualified Matsepo More outlined the long and hard path to achieving CA (SA) status. "The road is long and hard, make no mistake. But the final reward is so fulfilling," said Matsepo, who is a chief financial officer at the Public Investment Corporation. "Achieving CA status can open many doors for you."

A representative of the school of accounting at the University of Pretoria (UP), Sonnet Smith, outlined university requirements, what the department offers for the learners who are studying at the university and topics of interest from the university's perspective.
