The science club is an initiative of the UWC-SLCA to promote greater participation, excitement and enthusiasm for science amongst learners from this region. It is expected that a total of about 250 learners will be participating in the competition, which will be divided in two sections, namely a primary and a secondary section to allow all learners to compete on an equal basis.

In the science competition, learners will be expected to come up with creative and innovative exhibitions, experiments and demonstrations while at the same time explaining the processes that lead to the outcomes of the activity. They will be judged and scored for understanding, handling of equipment, originality, presentation and safety.
