Simba is rated SA's Best Employer for second year

According to the CRF Institute's annual Best Employers Certification survey for 2012/13, South Africa's leading snack company Simba is one of the best employers in South Africa. It was one of 73 companies, the largest number since the campaign began in South Africa in 1997, to receive the Best Employers certification this year.

The Best Employers certification is awarded to organisations that meet the highest standard in HR. In the research, all critical areas of the HR management of the participating organisations were assessed. The rating showed that Simba has outstanding employee offerings and thus qualified for the exclusive Best Employers certification.

Chereen Godwin, HR director at Simba, says this is a success story and the company is delighted with the recognition awarded by the CRF Institute for the second year in succession. It bears testament to the company's culture, which is driven by a diverse environment built upon teamwork and trust. "We have a strong belief in leading by example. We have grown a culture in which our values are a way of life, and this is a commitment which filters through from top down," commented Godwin.

Its mission is to deliver sustained growth through empowering people, while acting with responsibility and building trust amongst its employees. This is supported by six core values: to care for consumers and the community at large; to only sell products the company can be proud of; to speak with truth and truthfulness; to balance the short and long-terms objectives; to win with diversity and distinction; and to respect others and succeed as one company. It has a full-time staff complement of approximately 1607 people across the FMCG industry sector.
