Cradlestone Mall to open in November

Cradlestone Mall, a 76,000sqm development from Sasol Pension Fund, Pivotal Property Fund and Retail Africa, will open on 20 November 2013 providing Mogale City with a super-regional shopping mall.

Signed-up anchor tenants include Woolworths, Pick n Pay, Checkers, Game, Dion Wired and the Edcon Group, amongst the 200 stores offering unparalleled choice both local and further afield shoppers.

The mall is located at the intersection of the N14/R28 highways and Hendrik Potgieter Road, west of Johannesburg.

"Major retailers were quick to seize the opportunity," says Andries Schaap, GM investment from Sasol Pension Fund. "The mall is positioned to attract middle- to high-income shoppers from neighbouring Krugersdorp, Roodepoort and Randpark Ridge - but also from North-West Province and even cross-border shoppers from Botswana."

In addition to national retailers, it offers specialty retailers like MBW Art West Rand and Apadana Rugs; and a diverse restaurant and fast food component, including Menchies, The Raj Express and Doppio Zero. A Food Lover's Market and Dischem are scheduled to open in early 2014.

Access and parking have been priorities for the developers, with a focus on 'pop-in' shopping for food and services, as well as longer shopping trips. The mall offers 4500 parking bays. To ensure maximum accessibility, the developers invested R60 million widening Hendrik Potgieter leading to the intersection, as well as upgrading the interchange at the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and the R28.

"With easy commute times from the north and north-west suburbs, it has been designed to offer a range of shopping options for our consumers. It enjoys exceptional visibility from these major roads and highways and we have also worked hard to ensure the mall is easily accessible to shoppers," concludes Schaap.
