The Department of Education, the United States Consulate General and the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Organising Committee South Africa (OC) would like to invite members of the media to join them as they visit Redibone Middle School, to be held as follows.
Thursday 12th March
Redibone Middle School
- Mafikeng, North West Province
Address: 425 Matlhako Street
Time: 12:45 to 14:30

The visit forms part of the My 2010 School Adventure campaign which aims to promote both education and participation in football using the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ as a platform for this. Part of the campaign, Adopt-a-Nation, saw the schools of all provinces each adopting a country participating in the upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup, with the North West Province having adopted the United States of America.

The United States Consul General, Mr Andrew A. Passen, along with officials from the North West Province Department of Education, will be present at the school visit. The Consul General will speak to the learners about school life and sports in the United States of America and will also be donating books to the schools.

Redibone Middle School is the only school of the 8349 schools participating in the My 2010 School Adventure campaign that has produced two provincial champions in the South African Schools Confederations Cup tournament, with the boys and girls under-14 age group both taking honours in the provincial finals. The tournament, which forms part of the My 2010 School Adventure campaign started in May 2008 and will end with the national finals in May 2009.

Please send your RSVP to or phone 083 2010 226.
